September Chamber Luncheon - Why Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Should Be Part of Your Business
Why Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Should Be Part of Your Business
Please join us for our September 17 Chamber Luncheon at Heritage Golf Club at 11:30 am. Hilary Sloat, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Hilliard City School District will be our guest speaker. One of the main benefits seen with DEI work is an increase in empathy for and awareness of others in general. This translates to increased team-building and more positive coworker relationships. Simply put, reinforcing robust DEI programs helps every employee to show up each day without fear of being their true selves. This fosters higher degrees of engagement, productivity, and innovation that contribute to increased revenue. Plan to join us for the luncheon to learn more about this important topic.
Hilary has had multiple positions over her career, from special education teacher, 6th grade Science teacher, principal, and most recently, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Hilary undergraduate degree is from the University of the Cumberlands with a K-8 General Education license and a K-12 Special Education license. She pursued a Master's Degree from Walden University in Teaching Literacy and went on to get her Principal License and most recently her Superintendent License from the Ohio State University.
For 8 years, Hilary served as the principal of Hilliard Horizon Elementary School in Hilliard, Ohio, where she championed equity for her students. With the support of her teaching staff, Hilary worked hard to transform Horizon into an award winning learning center by creating an environment that was open from 7 am to 7 pm so that students could participate in activities and enrichment learning.
